We stayed at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile.
As far as shopping goes, Forever 21 (Called XXI) is right next door. Across the street COACH (*squeals*) and Gap. Man, we were near everything! I made sure to stop at H&M for some fashion bargains. That is a must whenever I head towards the East Coast since we don’t have one in AZ. Even if you don’t spend a single dime in the stores, the area is worth the walk because the store front displays are worth gawking at!
The lobby was pretty snazzy if I may say so myself.
This is the main lobby/bar area. Apparently in the evening the lobby is the place to be because during happy hour, this area is packed! The pictures don’t do this place much justice. Just know the lobby is realllly nice.
I tried to snap a picture of the beds before we trashed the room. The beds are soooo soft!!! I was asleep 30 seconds after my head hit the pillow. Nina insisted on having the fan on in the room. Ibu and I were having none of that. We negotiated that she can turn her fan on if she gave up her duvet/comforter. Which she gladly obliged.
I did take a second to take a peek at the room service menu. WTF?! $18 for a basket of 8 fruits? That is some highway robbery!!!! The fruit better be coming from Venezuela for that kind of money!
$14 for some Gatorade and a Nutri Gran Bar??!!?
I pity the fool that actually ordered from this menu and paid for it. There is a grocery store block away!
This is a pretty pricey hotel to stay in. The rate is about $200 -250 a night for two double beds. We scored a deal for $155 a night! I forget how many floors total. At least 30. Our room was on the 24th floor.
Other amenities: Starbucks on site, indoor pool, athletic center, valet parking ($30 per day to park your car), cable tv, wireless (fee per day), Bath and Body Works products in the bathroom (I totally stocked up on these freebies!) and there is a kiosk in the lobby where you can check in and print your boarding pass before heading to the airport.
The hotel is pretty far from the O’hare airport. I took the blue line train from the airport and got off at Grand Ave stop. From there I took an $8 cab ride to the hotel. You can also opt for the Shuttle but it will run you $20 or more. If you flew in from Midway – – its a shorter distance and you can use the Orange Line train to get to the hotel.
