Finally catching up on the Best of 2009 challenge
December 20: New Person
Wilhelmina Slater. Last week I was sick and barely left my couch. I rented the entire series of Ugly Betty to keep me company while I recuperated. At first glance, Betty just annoyed the hell out of me with her horrible fashion sense and klutzy nature. Several times during viewing, I just wanted to give up watching all together. One of the characters, Wilhelmina Slater, played by Vanessa Williams, just blows me away with her bitchiness. Blows.me.away! I’m not kidding you, this chyck is seriously my new role model. She says the things I’d want to say in real life but too scared to do so. I’m in awe of this woman’s swag, ambition, drive, and fashion sense. I love her!
December 21: Project
My advance apologies for the bad picture quality. I was trying something new on one of the free online photo software. I’m a lover of Food Network, cooking, and all things in between. For many years I’ve watched cooking shows without lifting a single spatula. In the past 2-3 years, I’ve really taken on an appreciation to cooking. Mostly inspired by having a boyfriend who likes having a lady prepare his meals from time to time. Instead of stockpiling all of my Rachel Ray and Food Network magazines, this year I’ve started cutting out my favorite recipes and placing them in a binder for easy access. My recipe book is categorized into appetizers, soups/sandwiches, pasta, main entrees, desserts, and of course, cocktails. I love this project and I add to it monthly everytime I get a new issue.
Pictures from top to bottom: 1) My white binder where all the recipes are held. (Yes, I know I misspelled the word on the binder. I’m okay with that.) 2) one of my appetizer pages 3) a dessert I’m curious to make one day. 4) cocktails, baby!
December 22: Start up
I’m going to use my daily skip card on this one.
December 23: Webtool
Earlier this year I’ve discovered Picnik. I’m by no means a fancy smancy photographer but every once in a while I like to tweak a picture of mine and make it a little bit extra. Picnik comes in a saves the day without costing me a single penny.
December 24: Learning experience
This year I’m finally getting my foot wet on this whole travel agent thingy. Since I’ve made travel my primary source of income, it doesn’t come without it’s challenges. I’ve already detailed some of those challanges on this blog. I’m learning there a lot more to this whole travel planning gig then what meets the eye. And the competition! Oh, my the competition. More than once have I lost potential clients who pursue better travel deals found on Travelzoo and Orbitz. A part of me doesn’t get mad because I’ve utilized these sites for my own personal vacations prior to being an agent but another part of me gets a bit frustrated/annoyed because ultimately that’s my paycheck that’s getting jerked with. (commission) I just got to figure out a way to work smarter.
